Recognizing our success in completing complex projects, URS Corporation, the New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) and the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) awarded us a one-year contract to gut renovate two century-old fire houses. The project involved a time-sensitive phased approach to enable these firehouses to operate without interruption during the construction. As general contractor, FCC was responsible for the full scope of both projects, from demolition to installation of structural steel and concrete slab to support the weight of modern fire trucks, as well as coordination of numerous trades. Our interior makeover of Engine Co. 217 included a new kitchen, bathroom, flooring, utility upgrades and finishes. At Engine Co. 235, we thoroughly overhauled its exterior, repairing its masonry façade, roof, sidewalk and parking lot.
